I’ve lived in the Northern suburbs of Chicago for my whole life and being able to experience Chicago everyday if I wanted to is a great feeling. This city to me is the best city in the United States, maybe even the world. That’s how sure I feel about this city. Chicago is known for several things world-wide. One of it is their diverse culture. Another is the love the show their teams every time they get on the court, field, diamond, and ice. Don’t expect to be disappointed by these games either. Wrigley field is known for their rich culture of being Chicago’s favorite team. United Center is known for the famous 1990-1989 teams, with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and many more guys that contributed to historic making of the Bulls. Then, we come to the Chicago Blackhawks. There is not much to say, but amazing love for the game in this team since it has been named one of the original six teams of the NHL. Not only does Chicago have that to put on their resume, but the Blackhawks’ jerseys are considered the best and most unique.

As I found from a website (http://www.askmen.com/specials/2009_top_29/chicago-5.html), chicago ranks number one in best cities in the world. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Chicago is a very busy and hectic place, but comfortable at the same time. This city is affordable and if you want to get money, you are going to have to work hard for it, but to reward yourself at the end of the day, Chicago has hundreds of great bars and restaurants, some of the best food i’ve ever had. You will be able to experience this great scene if you walk down Rush St. or if you go to addison a.k.a. Wrigleyville. Michigan Ave. is known for its amazing shopping scene, anything you want you can find there. Skyscrapers surround the town and glow the night up. Even though the winter is harsh and very cold and windy in the Windy City, Chicago people make up for the bad weather in the summer, where they experience a very famous music festival, Lollapalooza. This three day festival is seriously amazing. Going along with that, the summers are filled with great weather, which ultimately cover all the beaches and Navy Pier is filled with people. It is easy to see that people really do love this city. This is evident because of how many people come to see all the scenes and locations. I have not talked to one person that said they did not like Chicago. I mean how could you. Rich in culture, sports, the restaurant scenes, the beaches, the weather, and the entertainment. Like I said, i’ve lived in Chicago for my whole life. I have experienced so much in such little time here. There is never a dull day here. I’ve gone to Bulls’ games to watch Jordan make his opponents look like they shouldn’t even be on the court. I’ve eaten at some of the best steakhouses and pizzerias. I’ve experienced lollapalooza two times, and each year it gets better. Trust me when I tell you that Chicago is the best city in the USA and maybe the world.

This debate on the War in Iraq talks about great reasons why and why not to go into war. I believe this short and sweet debate gives us great detail and reasoning to show both sides of the debate. Both sides were great, but I had to go with the pro of going in War with Iraq. Some great points are people of Iraq are oppressed, the creation of another nation favorable to the US interests in the Middle-East all of these are great reasons and there are many more also.

Maybe one of the most famous coffee shop, Starbucks, has variety, decent prices, and great coffee. Starbucks is known for their monopolistic ability to control the whole coffee industry. Kofenya, on the other hand, is a small, town, coffee shop. Starbucks’ atmosphere is a friendly, but quiet enough to study and do work. The music is in the background and soothing. Their menu is filled with several different things to order such as coffee beverages, smoothies, and breakfast food. The websites are very professional. The prices are very reasonable. A little bit on the expensive side though. The seating is not enough, which often seems to be crowded when a lot of people are there. The workers are friendly, but older than students. It has a great location, where it is right in town. The service is fast and it has a popular icon too. Starbucks claims to have the best coffee. Indeed, they do get coffee beans from everywhere around the world, which means they get every kind of great coffee bean and have a a variety of beans to choose from. Their warrant is that they assume that people have tasted their products and know how good it really is.

Kofenya is much different place that serves coffee. It is a local coffee shop. The atmosphere is very friendly and young. The location is farther away from campus. The music is more modern day music. The customers are young students and the workers are students or younger people around college age. The menu is not as much as Starbucks and the prices are relatively the same. The coffee is good, but does not get the same flavor as Starbucks. Basically, it is not a monopoly because of how it is a local shop. There is a lot of seating and there is a lot of room do to not be surrounded by people. You are able to do work, but more of social group work. They claim it is a “great place to get away from Miami culture”. This is somewhat true as they change up how the place looks with purple and green walls. The support is what I just said. They have various of different looks to it then other place. Their warrant is that they assume people have visited this place and witnessed how different it is. They also assume how different the atmosphere is then a regular coffee shop.

Arguably my favorite movie and favorite speeches. In this three minute speech, the coach brings up ethos, logos, and pathos powerfully and emotionally. The ethos is that he’s been with the players for a couple of years and has gone through hell and happiness. He teaches about “being perfect”. Being perfect is easy in a way that you should forget the scoreboard or game and live in the moment. He talks about the relationship he has with the player’s and how strong it is. In a way, he’s been through this several times. The logos that the coach brings up is how they have two quarters left of possibly their football career. He explains that most of them have been playing this game for ten years, the majority of their lives. They’ve worked to be here through pain, suffering, and tears and that they should live in the moment. That they shouldn’t let each other down. In this speech, the coach uses pathos amazingly. In a way, it gets me pumped up to play football. This is the main thing that he uses in this speech. He sincerely tells the players that they need to live in that moment they worked for with “clear eyes and love in your heart”. He tells them that if they can successfully can do this, they can be perfect. He tells them to look into each other’s eyes and put them in their hearts forever, because “forever is about to happen”. Following says that his heart is full. If a coach ever said that to me, I would strongly appreciate him. Bringing one of their hurt players in to the conversation, the coach says that he is a “brother” to them. He would do anything to be on the field with him. They are a family in a way that they see each other more than their normal families, which is very true. He tells them to tell the truth to each other. “Live in the moment.” He keeps on repeating this because they would never have this moment again. By the end of the speech, he says, “Your hearts should be full”. Watching this every time gets me emotion because myself and many others knows how it feels to be at then end of their career in something. Through this small speech ethos, logos, and pathos are amazingly put in to aspect and changes the whole way the players look at the game they loved and slaved over.

In this short reading , rhetoric is broken up into three parts. They consist of verbal, pictorial, and museological. All of these are important in a certain way, including describing national parks. Verbal represents the landscape in written texts and things that describe national parks. Also, this study of rhetoric help comprehend the use of figure of speech. Pictorial rhetoric has a lot of power and ability to describe something. Last, museological rhetoric displays the way the park works and planned out. This may include how the building is built, such as the entrance or how the displays are positioned. All of these help explain how great and unique a certain place can be with rhetoric.

It started with a crazy idea and became a legend at Miami. As Green Beer Day comes closer and closer, the students from Miami of Ohio begin to buy and collect their accessories and clothes for what may be compared to the Little 500, which takes place at University of Indiana. Green t-shirts flood the campus, some saying “Kiss me I’m Irish” or “Green Tongues are sexy”. The hype of kids skipping school and getting ready for Spring Break surrounds the campus. It’s like the feeling of finishing your exams for the semester and know that you have a couple days in Oxford of sitting back and relaxing. The uproar of students throughout all ages, mostly 18-22, surrounds uptown oxford as finding a place to eat is like finding a needle in a haystack. Green eggs, ham, green, cream cheese and bagels are served left and right as hungry students prepare for this day. Soda, beer, any kind of beverage is dyed green. Needless to say, Green Beer Day is a ritual strong in pride and spirit.

My audience for this paper right now are my two roommates.

My audience do not know anything about my topic, which is somewhat good. The ritual’s name sparked their interest though.

I would need to explain why the students came up with this ritual and when it is.

Tell them how big of a ritual it is in Miami and that many , if not everyone, celebrates this and most likely you want to be part of this.

Maybe asking older students about this day and inputing it into my paper. Writing down a very exciting tone would definitely get the audiences’ attention.

Tell the audience that people buy and create accessories and clothes for this one day. Bars and restaurants turn the food and beer green.

Some details that would interest my audience is that this is one of the days that everybody is somewhat together doing the same thing. It’s a day where people skip classes, and it is the Thursday before Spring Break.

This ritual is something that the students themselves made up and this ritual has spread throughout college campuses. Even though we have many rituals, this is one that we has a whole make up. With out the student body, this ritual would fall apart.

Facebook

This social network is considered the most popular as hundreds of millions are users of this worldwide community. This network brings millions of people together and advances are ways of communicating to one and other, instead of calling or texting. Our culture is very dependent on how the internet works and where society will go next. In this website, we are allowed to chat, leave messages, be in social groups, play games, have pictures, make up events, and be closer to your friends and family. It’s easy, efficient, and simple. What more do people in the world want then being able to do something this easy? If you can work the internet, then you can work this site. Only in a couple of place do countries or nations ban this website, purposes only so that they can keep their workers from not being distracted. Even though some countries ban this site, we are able to contact someone from the other side of the world in mere seconds. This was the start of a huge beginning for social networks as myspace and dating services start to pick up business, but not as much as Facebook. This ever so fast growing network is at a amazing $15 billion. Even though parents are less willing to get one or allow their child to get one, it has become very obvious of how big this site has grown. In this internet world, people are more willing to go outside their boundaries. Some feel as it is easier to talk to people online and do not have to go through the anxiety of talking to a person. Facebook shows the other side of people or maybe reveal something embarrassing. Overall, people are allowed to decide what they want on their homepage. This profile page gives people chance to tell people about themselves. We are accustomed to looking for people on Facebook. No longer do we ask a friend to introduce you to someone or a group, we now can be come “friends” on the internet and I mean “friends” like this because you know the person, but you haven’t been able to talk to him/ her in person, which to me is how you know if you like the person or not. Facebook in general in a great thing to have by you because of its advance ways of talking. You are able to meet people endlessly and I feel that we are starting to greatly improved how society interacts to one and other.
